Hi, I’m Tom, this is to introduce our public law course for SQE1 exam preparation. Public law is one of my favourite topics. My legal practice has included many public law cases, and I have conducted judicial reviews throughout my career. I think it is a very rewarding area of law, intellectually, and fast evolving. You may be aware for example of Gina Miller’s Supreme Court cases, widely publicised, in one of which she successfully challenged the government’s position that Article 50 could be triggered without Parliamentary authorisation. It’s a fascinating area of law that governs the limits on the powers of government, and principles like Parliamentary Sovereignty which are central to our unwritten constitution.
